Life in London

Canada’s Most Beautiful Campus

Western is widely considered to be Canada’s most beautiful university campus. Confirmation comes from a “Best Overall” prize in the Canada-wide competition Communities in Bloom. Gothic buildings in a park-like setting provide an idyllic background for your studies. The campus is situated on nearly 400 acres of rolling hills and wide-open spaces on the banks of the Thames River. From the ivy-covered University campus it’s just a short bus ride to the buzz of Richmond Street in the city centre.

London Facts

Population 460,000
Londoners with a second language 66,500
Walking paths 60 km

Big enough for the ‘big city’ experience, student-friendly London is compact enough to make it easy to find your way around and make friends. Set in the heart of Southwestern Ontario, London is the region’s economic, entertainment and cultural hub. After a long day of classes, London – also known as the “Forest City” – is the perfect place to relax and unwind with friends.

The Weather

London enjoys four distinct seasons. Our climate ranges from warm, breezy summers to temperate, colourful autumns, crisp, snowy winters and mild,
refreshing springs. Temperatures range from a July (Summer) average in the 26° C range to a January (Winter) average of – 7° C. From November to March
students hit the various cross-country ski trails in the area, and between April and September relax on sun drenched beaches.
